Frozen Yogurt Sorbet Style: Entry #5 Toni

Frozen Yogurt: Sorbet Style!

Recently I have been exploring the non-dairy side of food, especially when it comes to dessert. You see I have a love/hate relationship with ice cream. I have never really had an issue with dairy, but not long ago I started struggling digesting the stuff. So instead of messing with it, I kind of went cold turkey. Lucky for me, it wasn’t too hard to do, and I have noticed my constant bloating and stomach aches have gone away. So either it is all in my head or it really worked!

My new low-dairy mindset, combined with the lovely Pinterest, led me to discover some lovely make-your-own-desserts! The idea came from TheKitchn blog. Three Ingredient Ice Cream. They used coconut milk, tapioca starch and fruit/vegetable juice. However, I didn’t have tapioca starch or juice….but I did have coconut yogurt and frozen berries! So I tried it. It worked and tasted fantastic.

All you need is:

1 small cup of non-dairy yogurt (if you don’t have dairy issues, try greek or regular yogurt!)

1 cup of frozen berries of your liking (the more berries you add, the thicker it will be)

A blender

That is it!

In the picture below, I used Soy Lemon Yogurt and Blueberries! (I added chopped mint and slivered almonds for freshness and texture.)

Other combinations I have tried:

Vanilla Coconut Yogurt with Berry Medley

Blueberry Coconut Yogurt with Mango

Chocolate Lovers out there…

Plain/Vanilla Coconut Yogurt with frozen banana

Cocoa Almond Spread (Trader Joes) and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top!

You can’t go wrong with this one! Anything goes! Happy-Healthy dessert eating! xo
