Purple

Purple fruits and veggies are super foods! Not only full of fiber to fill you up, but they are packed with an antioxidant called anthocyanin. Anthocyanin is what gives all purple and blue foods their color. It helps fight against cancer causing agents and prevents cell damage.
Purple foods can help lower bad cholesterol, support eye health, increase immunity from disease, help other vitamins and minerals be absorbed in the body, decrease inflammation, fight certain cancers, improve digestive and urinary tract health, and even have anti-aging properties.
My favorite purples are:
  • Cabbage
  • Egg plant
  • Plums
  • Black berries
  • Grapes
  • Prunes
  • Figs
  • Raisins
  • Acai berries
  • Blue berries
Health Mission: Go check our your local farmers market to find more unique purple foods like:
  • Purple potatoes
  • Purple asparagus
  • Purple onions

A great rule to know: The darker the color of a fruit or veggie the more nutrients the food packs.
