While interviewing this year for the Mrs. Oregon pageant I was able to speak about a subject near to my heart. The prevention of pediatric obesity and public health education. I was asked, “what are five health tips a family could start now to live a healthier life?”
Here is my answer in no particular order…
- Stop drinking soda– empty calories, high in sugar, causes unhealthy weight gain, increases risk for obesity.
- Eat more veggies– high nutritional value, low-calorie, they fill you up so you eat fewer calories.
- Stop eating fast food– cook your own meals at home to reduce the amount of daily consumed calories.
- Start exercising- calories in, calories out, strengthens bones, builds muscle for life long health.
- Drink more water– prevents dehydration, water is essential for all proper bodily organ functions.
Better health is a daily process. Make one change at a time. Start your journey today!
