Mrs. City of Rose’s Top 5

While interviewing this year for the Mrs. Oregon pageant I was able to speak about a subject near to my heart. The prevention of pediatric obesity and public health education.  I was asked, “what are five health tips a family could start now to live a healthier life?”

Here is my answer in no particular order…

  1. Stop drinking soda– empty calories, high in sugar, causes unhealthy weight gain, increases risk for obesity.
  2. Eat more veggies– high nutritional value, low-calorie, they fill you up so you eat fewer calories.
  3. Stop eating fast food– cook your own meals at home to reduce the amount of daily consumed calories.
  4. Start exercising- calories in, calories out, strengthens bones, builds muscle for life long health.
  5. Drink more water– prevents dehydration, water is essential for all proper bodily organ functions.

Better health is a daily process. Make one change at a time. Start your journey today!
